Tour Itinerary

• Day 1: Arrive at Casablanca | Tangier

  Welcome to Morocco, the Land of the Setting Sun, the “El Maghreb el Aqsa”! Arrive at Casablanca, and re-discover the romance of the 1942 movie ‘Casablanca’. Alternately you can also choose to embark on your Morocco journey at Tangier, Europe’s Gateway to Africa.

  Upon arrival, you will be collected at the airport and transferred to your hotel. You have the rest of the day to unwind and relax.

• Day 2: Chefchaouen

  After breakfast, your Morocco adventure begins with a trip to the “Blue City” of Chefchaouen. You will be collected by your personal driver and driven to Chefchaouen perched below the peaks of the Rif Mountains. Locally known as ‘Chaouen’, this quaint town will take your breath away. The mountain village is washed in blue. Everywhere you look, you are treated to an unforgettable sensual imagery. Houses, windows, doors, alleyways and stairways; all painted in shades of blue. The occasional red tiled roofs add a vivid splash of color amidst the hues of blue. You are free to explore Chechaouen at your own pace, soaking in the various nuances of this magical laid-back town, and spectacular mountainside views. You can indulge in photography or simply relax in a café at the Outa el Hammam main square.

• Day 3: Chefchaouen

  Checking out the town’s history from our travel guide is a great way to start guided tour of Chefchaouen. Roam the mystical alleyways of the medina, browse through the shops, visit some of the jewels of Andalusian architecture, and if are feeling adventurous, the charming park at the end of Avenida Mohammed. Your guide will be at your disposal in case want to make a short excursion into the Rif Mountains.

• Day 4: Volubilis | Moulay Idriss | Fez

  After breakfast, you leave for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Volubilis, between Meknes and Fes. Once a Berber settlement in the 3^rd century B.C., it became a prosperous Roman city from the turn of the 1^st century B.C. The 42-hectare walled city was home to 20,000 residents at the height of its glory. The ruins at the archaeological site are a living testimony of the prosperity of its former residents, visible in the grand residences, magnificent mosaic tiles, and remnants of public hammams, triumphal arches, and parliament buildings. The Corinthian columns of the Capitoline Temple, and the Basilica, are some other highlights. Your personal guide will lead you through the history of the ancient site.

  Transfer to Fez with a brief stopover at Moulay Idriss, about 2.5 m away from Volubikis. Considered a pilgrimage site, this is where the Idrisid dynasty was founded. The main attraction of this hilltop city is the tomb of Moulay Idriss, and can be seen from afar.

• Day 5: Fez Guided Visit

  Fez is another of Morocco’s UNESCO World Heritage Site that gives you a fresh perspective of an 1200-year old city. You are give a personal guided tour by a Fez local who will walk you through the many alleyways, public fountains, medieval gates, Kasbahs and tea houses. Your tour is from 9:30am to 5:30pm with a lunch break with a local family. Our travel guide to Fes is a great way to plan and prioritize the sights you would like to see. Discover the soul of this mystic ancient walled city of Fez el Bali, oozing with exotic old-world charm and heady aromas of local cuisine. You will not be required to walk through all places. The Dar Bath, or Qasr al-Batha  royal palace, Jewish Quartier (Mellah) and the gardens of Jardin Jnan Sbil in the outskirts of Fez are other attractions. This is also where you can shop for leather goods and rugs.

• Day 6: Ifrane | Ziz Valley | Erfoud

  An early start is a great way to see the beauty of the Middle Atlas Mountains carpeted with dense cedar forests. A brief stopover at Ifrane, a modern alpine-styled French resort, reminds you of Morocco’s French connections. As you move through the dense canopy of palms interspersed with ancient cliffs and streams, you are taken to the heart of the magnificent Ziz Valley. Here, you have the opportunity to rest and have lunch with our local host, Idriss, at his traditional Moroccan home. This is your close cultural encounter with a Moroccan family life, their everyday lifestyle and cuisine. Any children in your group will have the opportunity to mingle with the children of the Moroccan household, and get up-close to the family donkey and goats, maybe even feed the chickens. You can take opportunity for walks through the date palm groves and photograph the beautiful lush landscape. This is the biggest date-producing region in Morocco with 283 varieties of dates, the most delicious and expensive too, being Mejhoul.

  An hour’s drive to the French town of Erfoud, located alongside the Ziz River, gives you a great way to experience genuine Moroccan hospitality and beauty of the region. Fringed by large palm groves on one side and the vast desert ahead, this settlement of red sand buildings is a wonderful place for a night halt. As the dusk settles across the landscape, you can witness the most spectacular sunsets here.

• Day 7: Sahara Desert (Erg Chebbi)

  After you are fully rested, you can prepare to experience one of the most memorable moments of your Morocco adventure. The morning is for you to relax and explore the beautiful landscape of Erfoud and Rissani before your camel riding and camping adventure. An hour’s ride on a camel carries you along the tops of vast sand dunes to Morocco’s Erg Chebbi region, and your camp. Bedouin-style tents with modern amenities, are laid with thick Moroccan carpets to keep the sand from between your toes. Savor the Moroccan tagine in front of a campfire under the stars for a truly magical holiday. The tajine is a rich slow-cooked stew in an earthen pot. As you settle down for a memorable night in the midst of the vast Sahara desert, the wonder of sleeping under the watch of a starry sky gives you the memory of your lifetime.

• Day 8: Tinjedad | Skoura (Valley of Kasbahs)

  Rise with the dawn to watch the sun begin its journey over a clear blue morning sky, illuminating the desert with an out-of-the-world mist before turning a glowing ball of fire as you undertake your return journey over the sands. A welcome hot shower and breakfast awaits you at a local hotel. After your rest, you travel to the Skoura Valley with a stop en route at Tinjedad, the site of an ancient underground irrigation system. Here, you can take your lunch. If time permits, you will visit Ksar El Khorbat, a unique fortified town build from rammed earth, where the streets are dark with a few streaks of sunlight pouring in. A short drive takes you the Skoura palm grove, known as the Valley of Kasbahs to stay at a luxurious accommodation.

• Day 9: Tinjedad | Skoura (Valley of Kasbahs)

  On your second day in Skoura, you have the day free to make the most of this garden oasis, go for leisurely strolls, take rest and photographs. Enjoy the two-day stay in this magnificent piece of oasis in the heart of the Moroccan Desert. Known as the “Oasis of 1000 Palms, it is truly a paradise of historic mudbrick castles and Kasbahs, flanked by mighty palms.

• Day 10: Ouarzazate | Ait Ben Haddou | Telouet | Marrakesh

  From Skoura you travel to Ouarzazate, a small quiet town known for hosting ‘Ouallywood’ film sets. You can get a feel of the Hollywood of Africa, the Atlas Studios, considered one of the largest movie studios in the world. After this incredible experience, you can stop by the Kasbah de Taorirt one of the most impressive monuments against the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains and a reminder of the history, when camel trains passed through this territory carrying gold, spices and slaves to the markets of Marrakech and beyond.

  Ait Ben Haddou, is another a UNESCO world heritage site, a pre–Saharan traditional walled settlement of earthen buildings. It has featured in many Hollywood movies and television programs, like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. If you happen to be a fan of The Game of Thrones series, you may find this backdrop in series three. From Ait Ben Haddou, you may wish to continue to the charming village of Telouet, between the Tizi and Tichka Pass in the High Atlas.  Here, you can wander around the former palace of the El Glaoui family, or have lunch with a local one-time celebrity Berber singer. You travel the loop of Tiz n Tichka pass, to arrive at Marrakesh. Perhaps you still have time t where you may have time to explore the market square, Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, before dinner. The old-world charm and history of the site has inspired UNESCO to label it as one the “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.”

• Day 11: Marrakesh Guided Visit

  Our guide on the Marrakesh is a recommended read before you meet your private guide in the morning. He will come to your riad to discuss the sights you may like to see and introduce you to the famous Red City of Marrakesh. A stay at Marrakesh is a sensory overload, as you are greeted by exotic smells, colors and sounds the momen yiu step out of your riad. Have a deep cultural encounter at the local markets, the souks, considered the living soul of the city for more than a thousand years. Places to visit include the Museum of Photography, Bahia Palace and the Dar Si Said, the Lazama Synagogue, and the Majorelle Gardens.

  Marrakesh is the place to indulge in your shopping fantasies and witness some of the finest examples of Islamic architectures. Some iconic Moroccan takeaways are dates, olives, leather goods, Argan oil and products, including cosmetics, Birad or traditional Moroccan tea pots, bejeweled slippers, the Djellabah or the classic Moroccan hooded robe, handmade Berber carpets and spices, and more.  Our guide will always be at hand to help you with your shopping experience. • Day 12: Marrakesh to Essaouira

  Morocco is a country of contrasts. You have been up in the Rif Mountains, and now you can experience the sun and sand of the beach town of Essaouira. A recent discovery on the tourist map, made famous by its North Atlantic swells and surf spots, the charming coastal town of Essaouira is a great place to unwind and soak in the sun in the wonderful unspoilt beaches. While on the beach town, you cannot miss the spectacular sunsets over the vast Atlantic Ocean that has earned Morocco the Arabic name “El Maghreb el Aqsa” or the Land of the Setting Sun!

• Day 13: Essaouira

  You will have the entire day to yourslef to explore Essaouira. The name means “little picture” in Arabic, and it indeed looks straight out of a painting A stay at this Essaouira makes for a wonderful, laid-back change after the frenzied pace of Marrakesh. Take a stroll on the beach, soak in the sun all day, take a ride on a blue horse-drawn carriage, or wind up with a horseback ride in the evening. The palm-fringed avenues of the fortified medina are also home to art galleries and boutiques. For the adventure sports oriented, Essaouira is a haven for wind and kitesurfing. Enjoy local seafood cuisine with beautiful over water views.

• Day 14: Essaouira to El Jadida

  As your personalized guided tour of Morocco drawn to an end, you have the opportunity to stretch it out. After a leisurely breakfast, you can travel up the coast to the UNESCO listed Portuguese city of Mazagan or El Jadida. The legendary Fortress of Mazagan  is a must-see here. El Jadida is our new cove for Casablanca airport departures since it offbeat and quieter, with splendid guesthouse stays and almost the same distance to the airport as Casablanca.

• Day 15: Depart Casablanca

  Your Morocco adventure comes to an end today. Allow for a full three hours at the airport as customs procedures can be slow.
